Hi, my name is Svetlana. I was born in St. Petersburg (to tell the truth, in Leningrand, since that was the name of my city in Soviet time when I was born – I'll explain you all about the names of St. Petersburg during the city tour 
). I graduated from the State Pedagogical University of St. Petersburg where I studied Philology and Chemistry. For 5 years I worked as a teacher at school. As a hobby, I used to spend practically every weekend at some museum (there are so many in St. Petersburg) studying history and art history. A special treat for me was to take some of my foreign friends to the Hermitage or Peterhoff and to see how impressed they were with the beauty of St. Petersburg. One day it occurred to me that my hobby could actually be my job. I took guide-training courses, got guiding licenses from all the main museums of St. Petersburg and started a new life. I've been working as an English-, Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking guide since 2007 and never regretted this change in my career. I really enjoy it. I admire St. Petersburg. During sightseeing tours I try to encourage my guests to explore the city with all their 5 senses. To feel the city, it's not enough just to see the most famous sights and learn the history of the Russian Emperors (although of course I always fill my tour with the most gripping stories of conspiracies, intrigues and love affairs at the Russian court). You also need to listen to a church choir and some street musicians, to smell lilac bushes in numerous gardens and candle scent in a Russian Orthodox Church, to touch and feel coldness of the cast iron fences of canals and warmth of the granite embankment on the sunny side, to try the best pies and ice-cream we are so proud of. These tiny things make an integral part of St. Petersburg atmosphere that local guides (the Best Guides, of course) can help you feel. Do come to St. Petersburg. ¡Hola! Me llamo Svetlana. Nací en San Petersburgo (de hecho, en Leningrado que fue el nombre de mi ciudad en la época soviética – eso, de los nombres, les voy a explicar durante la visita panorámica ). Me gradué en la Universidad Estatal Pedagógica de San Petersburgo (la Facultad de Letras y la de Química). Trabajé como profesora del colegio durante 5 años. Mi tiempo libre yo siempre solía dedicar a los numerosos museos de mi ciudad, estudiando la historia de mi país y la del arte. Un placer especial para mí era acompañar a mis amigos de otros países en sus paseos por el Peterhof o el Ermitage y ver su admiración por la belleza de mi ciudad. Así, mi afición se convirtió en mi trabajo. Al acabar el curso de entrenamiento para guías turísticos y obtener todas las licencias necesarias de los museos, empecé a trabajar como guía turístico en 2007. Y, de verdad, me encanta mi trabajo. Adoro a San Petersburgo. Durante los recorridos panorámicos, ayudo a mis turistas explorar la ciudad no solamente con sus ojos, admirando la belleza arquitectónica, sino con todos los cinco sentidos. Para "sentir" la ciudad, es importante escuchar un coro de la iglesia y los músicos callejeros, percibir el olor a lilas en sus jardines y el a velas en sus iglesias ortodoxas, tocar las verjas fría de los puentes y su granito calentado por el sol del verano corto de San Petersburgo, probar las famosas empanadillas rusas ("pirozki") y el helado que es muy bueno en San Petersburgo. Son cosas pequeñas las que crean el ambiente único de la ciudad, el ambiente que los guías locales (los mejores, por supuesto, theBestGuides) les pueden ayudar a sentir. ¡Bienvenidos a San Petersburgo!
