My name is Julia Korn. I was born in St. Petersburg, and in 1985 graduated the Philological department of the St. Petersburg State University, majoring in Russian literature and history. For the past 17 years I have been a senior researcher at the National Pushkin Museum in St. Petersburg and published works on Russian literature, history and arts. Fluent in English, I have also acted as the international liaison for the Museum. In this capacity I have traveled to Great Britain and U.S. on many occasions and in 1999 helped coordinate the renowned International Pushkin Conference at Stanford University, California. I have also been the St. Petersburg representative of the International Pushkin Charity Fund concerned with preservation and conservation of the legacy of the great poet, Alexander Pushkin.
Having a close proximity to the St. Petersburg cultural and ballet world, I was recruited as a producer for the Stars of St. Petersburg ballet tours which actively presented fully staged productions throughout the western U.S. between 1997 and 2005.
Since 1993 I have been working as a guide and a tour programmer for groups and individual clients. I graduated numerous courses and acquired licenses to conduct tours in all major museums in St. Petersburg and its environs, providing services for guests with a special interest in arts, music, ballet, history and literature. My tours "St. Petersburg of Pushkin's Time", "Dostoyevsky in St. Petersburg", "St. Petersburg - the Center of Ballet" enjoyed big success.
A seasoned world traveler myself, I have a keen insight into the special needs of the discerning traveler. Among my clients are the Paul Getty Foundation, Smithsonian Institute, "Save Venice" Charity Foundation, Eugene O'Neil Theatre Centre, Florence Academy of Arts, the family of Vice-President Al Gore, descendants of Russian aristocratic families - Romanov, Tolstoy, Shuvalov, Pushkin, Obolensky, Miloradovitch - and numerous cultural, business, and political leaders.
